Classic hot chocolate:

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons or 20 grams of your favorite hot chocolate mix
  • 1 cup or 236 ml hot milk
  • Marshmallows (optional)

In your favorite cup, put in the chocolate mix and pour in your hot milk.

Stir and top with your favorite marshmallows.

Weissman tried this one for comparison only.

You’ll see that instead of water, he used milk, which made the chocolate drink creamier.

Simple and comforting hot chocolate:

  • 1 cup or 236 ml whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon or 18 grams of heavy cream
  • 2 grams of vanilla extract
  • 18 grams of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons or 13 grams of unsweetened cocoa powder

Pour all the ingredients into a small pot. Place it over medium heat and occasionally whisk until hot.

Transfer to your mug and top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

To make it better, top it with grated chocolate.

The taste is totally different.

It’s not too sweet but it’s you can really taste the chocolate. The flavor is deeper and what’s great is that you can control the sweetness level.

Italian hot chocolate:

  • 1 1/2 cups or 354 ml whole milk
  • 4 oz. of finely chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons or 30 grams of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon or 6 grams of cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon or 9 grams of cornstarch

Put your finely chopped dark chocolate in a small saucepan and a splash of your whole milk.

Heat over medium heat and then add your sugar and cocoa powder.

Stir occasionally until the chocolate melts.

While waiting, mix in your cornstarch and a little whole milk. Mix well.

Once your chocolate has melted, slowly pour in the rest of your milk. Whisk until hot.

Then add your cornstarch slurry and continue mixing until the consistency turns very thick.

Pour into a cup and top with whipped cream and sprinkle cocoa powder.

Mexican hot chocolate:

  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 Dried chili of your choice, seeded
  • 8 oz. or 226 grams of finely chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons or 18 grams of brown sugar
  • 1/2 of a vanilla bead pod
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups or 354 ml of whole milk

First, put your cinnamon stick into a small saucepan.

Char only one side.

Set it aside.

Now, combine your dark chocolate, sugar, vanilla bead pods that were scrapped, the pods themselves, your cinnamon stick, and of course, the chili.

Add salt and whole milk.

Heat and stir over medium heat until hot. Turn off your stove and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Remove the vanilla bean pods and the cinnamon stick. Using your blender, blend everything until smooth.

Pour through mesh strainer.

That’s it. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream and don’t forget to dust with cocoa powder.
